December 2009 Presentation Evening

HETHERSETT HAWKS / SWINTON & CO celebrated a successful season on and off the track at their presentation party at Hethersett Social Club. The Memorial Playing Field has seen the track re-surfaced, the surrounds tidied up, a power supply and container brought in and a new floodlight erected. The Club has appointed and trained a Welfare Officer and two coaches in search of the elite Go-Ride status which should be achieved early in 2010.

The racing started in February in Australia where the Club contested the World Championships and ended in late November at the British Indoor Championships. In the traditional outdoor season the Hawks finished second in the British U19 Club Championship, reached the quarter-finals of the British Team Championship and won the South-East League Division Two for the third consecutive year. Individually they provided three South-East Grand Prix Champions, one East Anglian Champion and three Norfolk Champions.

Club awards were made to David Martin (Top Scorer and Sportsman of the Year), Harley Hamill and Carly Grimes (Most Improved Juniors), Caroline Collins (Club Person of the Year), Dan Chambers (Second Team Rider of the Year) and Ben Collins (First Team Rider of the Year). Club Champions: Under-10 Oliver Forder-Wilcox, Under-13 Katie Adams, Under-16 Harley Hamill, Under-19 David Adams, Senior David Martin, Veterans David Chambers, Maiden Plate Danny Woods, Pairs David Martin & Simon Wilcox, Rider of Night Award Mel Perkins.
